Today is my birthday, 10 November 2007.
I woke up this morning with a sweet wispering "Happy birthday" from my husband and a few moment later, a little boy from the picture rang me to yell out a "Gratulerer med dagen" to me. It was a very nice "morning" than it usually is.
The weather was nice all day even there is a little bit too cold with -1.5 but the sun shine all day long.
We went out to visit Garfield, and he is fine and beautiful as always. We also noticed that Garfield's hair is now thicker than ever. I now see the prove of what people said that when the weather gets colder, cats and dogs grow out hair by themselves when they needed it. Trond used to laugh at dogs in Thailand when he saw them wearing clothes as we think that dogs are probably cold and need to put some clothes on to warm them up.
I used to worried that Garfield will be freeze with the weather here in Norway. But now I know that I shouldn't be, and I feel relieved.
4 O' Clock today I had a very nice dinner with my husband's family. They are all here for my birthday. Trond's mom baked 2 types of cakes, one of them is cheese cake as I have requested for, hehe. The other one is chocolat cake which is also very good! I also think it is very sweet and very nice of her that she cook food with rice instead of potatoes like she usually do.
A little bit after 4, P' Rae, a Thai woman who study in the same class with me came with a set of sushi that she has made as a small gift for my birthday. A big thanks to her as me and Trond hasn't had Japanese food since we left Thailand.
We all 10 of us have a nice dinner and eat cakes together. First Bente, Jon Harald and Marius leave for Jon Harald's parents. An hour or two later me and Trond went to Jeab and Tommy's place. Jeab cooked "Yam woon sen" It was very good, I had to eat again eventhough I already had my dinner. We were there quite a long time and as always, Trond chat with Tommy, and I chat with Jeab as we speak the same language, haha.
That's are quite a lot of things I have done today but wait... on top of the above story, I also had a little chat with my mother who had waited for me. I think it was around midnight when we finally can get to talk but it was all right. She is happy to wait, and I am happy to get a little talk with her.
Now the clock turns eleven at night, my birthday is ended in an hour. I wanted to spend the night with my lovely husband, so now I have to go...
I am saying good bye to the coldest birthday I ever had. (Of course, it will be also the cold birthday in the next next year... )
Oh, some of you might wonder of what I got for a present from my husband? Hehe.
It was a very nice (expensive) shoes and a very good quality blender! Brilliant!!!
This is my classmates. All of us is about 26 people who came from different countries. For example, Thai, Vietnam, Hongkong, China, Philipine, Romania, USA, Nigeria, Congo, Russia, Brazil, Ulbania, Uzbegistan, Iraq, Poland, etc.
I guess you all can tell which one is our Norwegian teacher, he is a very nice and kind teacher. There is also another beutiful teacher name Mari, I will try to take a picture with her and post in here next time!
Nowadays the sun sets very early and it's actually effected to me and Trond as we can't drive to see Garfield and stay as long as we usually do. Trond finish work difference time everyday and we never know when exactly we can go visit Garfield. If lucky Trond come home before 04.30 then we can take a visit Garfield and Trond usually comes home after 5. Not very easy isn't it?
But... fortunately, Garfield is now a lot better at the quarantine, he gets used to with everything there now I believe since he let people who work there touch and stroke him very easily. The people who work there like him very much too! and of course everyone know why.. hehehe (Because he is the world's cutest cat!!)
Since he is now better with the quarantine, it is no need for me to worry for him as much as I used to. I felt "ok" when I can't go to see him as appointed since I know he is just fine over there anyway. But of course we still try our best to keep on visiting him once a week.
You can see in the picture of how nice he looks?
The weather is getting colder everyday now, the day is also shorter and shorter. This morning at 8 am. it is 2 degree and foggy outside, and now nearly lunch time and is still foggy!
I know it will get worse.. and I am not looking forward to it, hahaha
This morning the newspaper said the sun goes up at 08.18 am. and go down at 17.43.
The moon's up at 16.53 and down at 07.08 am. It also forcasted that this weekend will be BAD weather!! Uffff!!
I have talked to many of the Thai women here and many of them went to Norwegian course for such a long time, some are more than 2000 or 3000 hours. When the law stated that we should do not less than 300 hours only. For me to be able to cover 300 hours should be around end of December. But it is not only the hours, we have to pass the test too!
There is a test every 4-5 months. The soonest test is in the beginning of February next year and I have my goal to it!
I had a consultation hour with the teacher and he told me that the good ones, can passed the test after 6-7 months of studying, while many take a year or two... Suddenly I get really scared, haha!! I started this course in end of August, if I count for it, I should have my time studying only about 5-6 months tops! This is mean that I had to be one of the good ones!!! ...
Well, if I don't pass it I will have to continue to school until June when there is the next test come!
Wish me lots of luck!!
It has been 2 months since I am here in Norway. I starting to get used to with things around here. Directions to go places, food, language, people, and of course the weather.
I haven't write much to friends in Thailand, I am sorry, I hope you can read it through here. I have to admitted that there is nothing here to make me busy but somehow I got something to do everday and was not at all feeling lonely (yet).. haha. I also haven't call much to people eventhough I can get a cheap telephone card calling to Thailand.
2 months here, there comes the feeling of "routine" and I don't know what to talk about. But of course there are some things that surprised me here. For example "tax". Trond said "We pay tax for every single thing here, and almost have to pay for breathing".
Another amazing thing is the sky... The first few weeks when I was here I told Trond that I felt like the sky is so close to us almost like if we could reach it. I can easily see the clouds moves. But Trond said he don't think so. Last 2 weeks ago I was inside reading a book, it was around 1 o' clock in the afternoon. It was nice weather with sunshine, but suddenly I felt like someone dimming the light. I looked up and my mother in law said "it was a cloud that moves passed the sun". It was really amazing for me... It felt so obviously like someone shut down the light!! I was confirmed by a Russian and Romanian friend that what I felt is right, the sun is actually closer in Norway than their countries!!
Last week there is a one by one consultation with the teacher about the course, and discuss of what do I want to do in the future when I finish the language school or if I want to continue to study higher level of the language. We also discuss about the next opening test that is going to be in February next year. I think there is a test in every 4- 6 months, if ones passed the test it is means that person is qualified to speak and work in Norway.
So if I don't pass the test in Feb, I will have to continue the school until June, and November.. something like that. I asked the teacher of how long usually people take to be able to pass the test or finish the course. He said the good ones can pass the test in 6-7 months. There are a lot of people study for 2 years or more. .. Suddenly I get scared, haha. I have just started in the end of August, (was later than other in the class around 3 weeks) and to take the test in Beginning of February .. It means I will only be studied a little bit more than 5 months... Wow.. it suddenly becomes stressful to me. I don't want to take longer than February! I have to try to speak Norwegian more now, otherwise it will be too late!
By the way, Garfield, he is now better and better. He is not stress as he used to anymore. The surgery wound was fully recovered, his hairs grows covered the wounds now too.
Last week the officer at the quarantine said they are able to touch him and stroke him now too! They actually take shorter time than me and Trond, haha. IT took us 3 months to be able to touch him. He is very special cat!
It take us 40 minutes to get there and we continue visiting Garfield every week. Along the way to get there is going through mountains. I got sick everytime but there is nothing I can do..... cause I want to see the world's cutest cat, Garfield!
By the way, can't all you guys please register here?? Don't be lazy now, it takes 1 minute!!
The weather is getting colder everyday now, today is only 6 degree outside... if we ever live out town it could be minus already! The sun also set faster than it was when I first came here in mid August. The sun used to set around 10 at night... but now it's already dark at 8! The time is shorter every day as well... I am looking forward to the day that I should adjust my watch... sounds fun to me! It is like that here, when the time comes, you just lose or gain one hour! Amazing for a Thai person like me anyway! Hahaha
Bee eeee!!!
